Nye Health Services Announces Dr. Matthew Beacom As Medical Director For Our Campuses

Nye Health Services is proud to announce that Dr. Matthew Beacom is joining the Nye Health Services team. Effective September 1, Dr. Beacom will become Medical Director for our campuses in Fremont, Norfolk, and Lincoln as well as Nye Home Health Care.

Dr. Beacom and his team will continue to provide medical services to the patients of Beacom Health Clinic. Dr. Beacom is also currently serving as Medical Director for a national hospice program. He is also the Director of Rural Health for the College of Public Health, as part of his duties with the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Celebrating 40 Years of Care and Compassion

Nye Health Services is celebrating Lynette Winter and her 40 years of service at Nye Pointe in Fremont, NE. Nette started with Nye Health Services in 1982 as a Medication Aide. While many things have changed over the years, her commitment to providing excellent care to the residents has always been the same.

Celebrating 40 Years of Care and Compassion

In 2005, Nette was awarded the NHCA Direct Care Staff Award for her leadership and dedication to the residents and team members. She was also the team leader for the Eden Journey program from 2005 to 2015. Today, Nette continues to grow professionally by leading the Mentor program for the Medication Aides. When we asked Nette what her favorite part of the job was, she smiled and said, “Working with the residents and getting to know them along with their families!”

Her team members will tell you, from her easy laugh and gentle and caring demeanor to her knowledge of her job and the residents she cares for, she’s the best!

Thank you, Nette, for all the lives you have touched over the years with Nye Health Services! We are very thankful and look forward to more fun and laughs!

Nye Health Services Increases Starting Wage By 30 Percent

Nye Health Services announces an increase of its wage scale for direct care staff effective immediately. This includes an increase in the starting wage by 30 percent. This $640,000 annual wage adjustment for our five campuses reflects changing market pressures on wages but more importantly, recognizes our committed and dedicated team members who have been warriors during the last two years of fighting Covid on our campuses.

“Our Team Members are our most important asset! We have a staff of talented team members who have risen to the challenges of the past two years. Their commitment in the face of unprecedented circumstances has allowed our Nye campuses to continue to deliver exemplary care to our residents,” states Russ Peterson, CEO of Nye Health Services.

Nye Health Services Increases Starting Wage By 30 Percent; Implements A Higher Wage Scale; And Expands Benefit Coverage For Team Members

In addition to the wage scale increases, Nye Health Services also has made a $50,000 investment to minimize the impact of rising healthcare insurance costs on our team members. Nye has committed to cover the increased costs of team member health insurance premiums for 2022. Other benefits include paid time off for Covid absences in addition to standard paid time off benefits, an Employee Assistance Plan, and Crisis Fund to assist employees through difficult times.

The Meadows Welcomes Christy Lee as Executive Director

The Meadows is excited to welcome Christy Lee as their new executive director. Christy comes to The Meadows with over 29 years of experience in social services serving the Norfolk, Nebraska community. Christy has gained management experience in hospital, non-profit, and medical clinic settings throughout her career. Christy shared, “I am so excited to join The Meadows team as the executive director. I am looking forward to providing exceptional service to the seniors in our community and creating an outstanding work environment for our team members!”

“Christy shares the values of our organization and has the personal skills and business acumen required to be very successful at The Meadows. Her commitment to creating a homelike environment for our residents while building a strong team will continue the proud history and fantastic reputation that The Meadows has enjoyed in Norfolk for the past 30+ years. Christy has lived in the Norfolk community for 10 years and considers it home. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her grown children and six grandchildren. She also loves traveling with her husband on their motorcycle.

Nye Square Welcomes Brooke Belina as Executive Director

Nye Square is excited to welcome Brooke Belina as their new executive director. Brooke comes to Nye Square with extensive industry experience, from her first job as a CNA to her most recent position as the Executive Director of a Continuum of Care Facility. Kristin Harris, VP of Operations, shares “Brooke’s depth of experience in the senior health care industry allows her to lead our campus with a complete understanding of our community and the needs of our residents. We are confident that her passionate and personalized management style, along with her joyful and spirited personality, will allow her to continue the success that has been created at Nye Square.”

Brooke was born and raised on a farm in Arlington, Nebraska and graduated from Arlington High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wayne State College and her Master’s in Gerontology and Mental Health from Concordia University. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters on her family’s farm.

Brooke shared, “My whole life, I have been passionate about providing exceptional services to seniors. I am excited to join the Nye Square team as the executive director and develop strong relationships with our residents.”

Caring for Our Heroes: How Community Care Helps Veterans

Gateway Vista, a Nye Health Services campus, is now a participating facility under the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (VA CCN) for all eligible Veterans who could benefit from short term rehabilitation services and outpatient therapy services. Both Optum and United Healthcare are collaborating to manage the VA CCN, a national VA initiative.

Gateway Vista’s Executive Director is a 25 year Active Duty and Reserve Officer and has worked in healthcare for over 20 years. Executive Director (Major) Mark Sroczynski knows what it means to serve. Mark states that, “As a 25 year Active and Reserve Duty Officer, I know what it means and how to relate to Veterans, especially during the healing process. One of several duties I was fortunate to complete, was a 12 month tour at Brook Army Medical Center, San Antonio. There I Commanded the first Warrior Transition Unit and averaged approximately 200 Soldiers, Airman, Navy and Marines who were there to recover from their injuries.”

“The VA Community Care Network allows Veterans who qualify to come to our organization outside of the VA to provide services. All people, including Veterans, should have this choice as to where they want their care to take place. Join us.”

Veterans Affairs provides healthcare for Veterans in your local community. If Veterans Affairs cannot provide the care needed, then the Veteran may be eligible to receive care from a community provider. This is provided on behalf of, and paid for, by Veterans Affairs. Before a Veteran can receive community care from a provider, the VA must first authorize the care. Gateway Vista, one of Nye Health Service’s campuses, is proud to service our nation’s veterans.

Types of Care Available

Veterans Affairs ensures that even after a soldier’s service has ended, the person behind the uniform has the care needed for their entire life. Veterans may be eligible for the following types of care:

General Community Care: If you require a specialty service or health care need that is not offered at a VA medical facility, then you may qualify for general community care. For example, maternity care is not offered at VA medical facilities, so a patient could be eligible for general community care. General community care needs to be pre-authorized by Veterans Affairs.
Emergency Care: If you’re suffering from a life threatening emergency, call 911 first and go to the nearest emergency room. For emergency care, a prior VA authorization is not necessary, as your immediate health and well-being is a priority. A claim for emergency care will never be denied based solely on VA not receiving notification prior to seeking care.However, you should contact the VA within 72 hours of admittance to help VA staff coordinate discharge or follow-up medical care.
Home Health Services and Hospice Care: The VA aims to keep chronically ill or disabled Veterans in their homes as long as possible. Skilled home health care, palliative care, homemaker services, and hospice care are all considered extended care services under the direction of a VA physician.
State Veterans Homes: A VA social worker can provide you with additional details about State Veterans Homes. These facilities provide services such as adult day care or nursing home services.

Veterans Affairs provides a wide variety of care options for Veterans throughout their lives.

Cost and Billing Options for Veterans

The VA provides several different billing options for Veterans such as paying online through a secure server, by phone, in person at a VA medical facility, or by mail. Veterans are charged a co-payment for care provided directly by VA,or through a community provider outside of VA. The co-payment amount is based on the type of health care service you receive and your financial situation. For Veterans struggling with co-payments due to loss of job, or a sudden decrease in income, contact the VA to see if you qualify for financial hardship assistance.
